Updated COVID-19 Vaccines for 23-24*
The Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee (VRBPAC) periodically convenes in open session to discuss and make recommendations on the selection of strain(s) to be included in updated COVID-19 vaccines.
Based on the totality of the evidence, for the 2023-2024 Formula of COVID-19 vaccines in the U.S., FDA has advised manufacturers seeking to update their COVID-19 vaccines.
The updated Covid vaccine booster is expected to be cleared by the FDA ahead of a CDC vaccine advisory panel, which is scheduled to meet on Sept. 12 to vote on whether to recommend the updated vaccines.

Response to Irregularities Identified in the MRR
“The medical record must show documentation that the attending physician reviewed any irregularities identified by the pharmacist. For those issues that require physician intervention, the attending physician either accepts and acts upon the report and recommendations or rejects all or some of the report and should document his or her rationale of why the recommendation is rejected in the resident’s medical record. It is not acceptable for an attending physician to document only that he/she disagrees with the report, without providing some clinical basis for disagreeing.”
Eye Drop Administration***
- Start by tilting your head backward while sitting, standing, or lying down. With your index finger placed on the soft spot just below the lower lid, gently pull down to form a pocket.
- Look up. Squeeze one drop into the pocket in your lower lid. Don’t blink, wipe your eye, or touch the tip of the bottle on your eye or face.
- Close your eye. Keep closed for three minutes without blinking.
- Optional: Gently press on the inside corner of your closed eyes with your index finger and thumb for two to three minutes (to keep the drops from draining into your throat and getting into your system).
- Blot around your eyes to remove any excess.
